The Essential Tools and Websites for Online Music Promotion (Part 1)
There are many ways to promote your music online, with MySpace (of course) being the most well known. It is obviously, nonetheless, the biggest online community for musicians, and if used in the right way, it can be a very powerful tool. However, there are many other ways to promote your music and transport it to a bigger internet audience. We have created a handy list in which you will find the most important tools to help you promote your music online.
PLAYERS
It is always a good idea to have more players. Putting them in different websites (including MySpace) will enable you to get more of your music out there. The more places you put your music, the further it will go.

Project Playlist (http://www.playlist.com/)
This is a community where people can create their own list of their favorite artists. Make your own list with your songs and then place it in any website and/or blog that you wish. (Keep in mind that you will have to have previously uploaded the songs to your hosting account or to another site which offers free storage space.)

MyFlashFetish (http://www.myflashfetish.com)
This is where you can build your own playlist and choose from a variety of different designed players. (To create a player, although, you will have to have your songs previously uploaded and stored in your hosting account or in another website which offers free storage. )

iJigg (http://www.ijigg.com)
On this site, the users vote for the submitted singles. Clicking on the songs leads you to a player with a code. You can then use this code to embed it in different sites (such as MySpace, websites, or blogs).
STORE YOUR FILES
If you don't have a hosting account or a website in which you can store your files (audio, photos, etc.), you can use some of these sites which offer free storage accounts:

http://www.mediafire.com
Storage only for Photos:

SOCIAL NETWORK SITES

MySpace, Facebook and YouTube are, without doubt, the most important sites which reach out to the widest based audience. (When creating an account in Facebook for bands and musicians, it is best to open a page instead of a conventional user account. In order to do this, go to the link: http://www.facebook.com/advertising/?pages )

Last.fm (http://www.last.fm)
A social network, an internet radio, and a music recommendation system which builds profiles and statistics about musical preferences, based on the information which is sent by its registered users.

iLike (http://www.ilike.com)
ilike is turning into the primary way to discover and share music with playlists, recommendations, and different applications for Facebook, Orkut, hi5, and Bebo. (Applications for iTunes and iPhone, etc. are also available).

imeem (http://www.imeem.com)
Users can use imeem as a place to share any type of content such as media, photos, audio, and videos. Also, the code provided for it's music playlists can be embeded into different websites. Many artists have an official profile within this site.

Bebo (http://wwww.bebo.com)
A place where bands can create their own special accounts, and users, who partake in this large community, can share a wide variety of media.

PureVolume (http://www.purevolume.com)
A site for independent artists where they can share and download music.

Buzznet (http://www.buzznet.com)
A social network where users can participate in different communities of interest, ideas, music, and anything related to pop culture.

Jamendo (http://www.jamendo.com)
A community where artists can upload their music for free and the public can then in turn download it in the same manner.
